Business Ecosystem

Back in May/June 1993 James F. More published the famous Harvard Business Review article, titled “Predators and Prey: A New Ecology of Competition”, and won the McKinsey Award for article of the year.

On that article Moore defined “Business Ecosystem” as an economic community supported by a foundation of interacting organizations and individuals – the organisms of the business world:

In a business ecosystem, companies coevolve capabilities around a new innovation: they work cooperatively and competitively to support new products, satisfy customer needs, and eventually incorporate the next round of innovations.

And Moore added:

A business ecosystem, like its biological counterpart, gradually moves from a random collection of elements to a more structured community… but business communities, unlike biological communities of co-evolving organisms, are social systems.

And social systems are made up of real people who make decisions; the larger patterns are maintained by a complex network of choices, which depend, at least in part, on what participants are aware of.

In short, Agile Connect is just one organism that is part of a much larger business ecossystem, always open to collaborate with other organizations and companies towards the Agile Connect’s vision.
